Dear Friends,
HIV/AIDS affects us all. It may sound cliche but it's true. Maybe your positive yourself and take handfuls of pills to keep the virus at bay. Maybe you have lost someone special in your life to the disease. Maybe you're fortunate to be HIV negative, but realize that you too could have been positive. Perhaps you're unaware of your HIV status because you worry what the tests results would be. With almost half of Kentucky's HIV cases reported right here in Louisville, chances are you know someone who is positive. Whatever your story, there's no denying that AIDS has affected our community. I am asking you to join me in the fight against this terrible disease.
Since 1993, our community has come together the last Sunday in September to help those infected with HIV/AIDS through the Louisville AIDS Walk. Last year we nearly 6,000 people attended the Walk raising over $196,000. Please help in the local fight against HIV/AIDS.

There are thousands of HIV positive people in Louisville who have benefited from the 12 local non-profits that have been funded in part by the Louisville AIDS Walk.
With advancements in the medications given to people with HIV/AIDS means people are living longer. This means the need for programs to meet basic human needs (such as medical care, housing, food, transportation, dental programs, legal services and counseling) is increasing. The number of NEW HIV cases continue to rise while the resources to help are dwindling. It is NOT over! Your support, participation, volunteerism are needed NOW more than ever. Join me in supporting the Louisville AIDS Walk until there is a cure.
